By putting together the Mixed Duo, Marc Guillemot has set out to do something completely unprecedented: help two promising young sailors prepare to compete in their first Solitaire du Figaro.
Because Marc Guillemot has a dream.
Marc Guillemot is one of those great yachtsmen that have had us all enthralled by the open sea for years. A veteran of the Route du Rhum, the Vendee Globe and the North Atlantic record, sailing both ORMA trimarans and IMOCA 60s, he has made the podium more than 33 times! The Mixed Duo is his way of sharing his experience.
With the Mixed Duo, Marc Guillemot has set out to do something completely unprecedented: help two promising young sailors prepare to compete in their first Solitaire du Figaro. Having come through a stringent selection process, Cassandre Blandin and Matthieu Damerval will now start a customized programme to prepare them for the race. At SOG’s Trinité-sur-Mer base (the former home of the IMOCA Safran), they will have the use of two superb, brand-new Figaro3s, together with a specially designed training programme and guidance from the experts that have been supporting Marc himself for many years.
Because the 50th Solitaire du Figaro will be totally different.
The Solitaire is set to mark its 50th edition this year with the launch of a brand new boat, the Figaro 3. Ten metres of streamlined power with two foils, this craft is the result of an exceptional collaborative project by France’s nautical industry (VPLP, Bénéteau, and Multiplast). Loïc Peyron, Michel Desjoyeaux, Armel Le Cléac’h, Jérémie Beyou, Yann Eliès, and of course Marc Guillemot, will all be gathered at the start of this historic race, ready and waiting with help and advice for the promising new generation.
Because two heads are better than one.
It’s an honour to support Cassandre Blandin, Matthieu Damerval, and Marc Guillemot as they cast off for this new adventure whose values are diversity, sharing, collective intelligence, and ambition. The whole team is eager to see them fly the flag for Klaxoon in their magnificent Figaro3s.
